Week 6, Term 4

Can you believe we are at the half way point of our last term? Where has this year gone?! We have continued working hard and making excellent gains in our learning.

Inquiry

We have continued our learning about keeping our bodies healthy. Have a look at the video above which shows how some parts of our body works.

Out of Uniform Day

We loved wearing our sport colours on the out of uniform day on this week. Our school raised $253 for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal with this fundraiser.

Assembly

Congratulations to our Award recipients at Assembly: AJ, Hannah, Olivia P and Charli.

The BFG

We are reading the BFG as a class book. It has a lot of strange words like 'snozcumbers!' We have been using our visualisng skills to build comprehension and deepen our understanding of the text. We visualised what we think the BFG would look like using the 'picture' words from the text. What do you think of our interpretation?
Are his ears as big as truck tires?  Does he have a long black coat. a large suitcase and a long thin trumpet?

MathsChance and Data

Our Learning Intentions during this unit are:
Probability (subjective) - We understand what we want does not always effect what will happenProbability (theoretical) - We understand we can use our knowledge to predict outcomes/results.Randomness - We understand that although you can predict what will happen it sometimes may not happen.  Eg; Using a coloured spinner. This video shows us testing our prediction of the following scenario:If I rolled 2 six sided dice 100 times and added the two numbers together, which total would come up most often? We tested our predictions by rolling 2, 6 sided dice up to 100 times to get data which showed reliable trends. This was a challenging activity!

Week 4, Term 4

Multiplication and Area

We have been learning about multiplication, arrays and area.  We worked in teams to make a square metre which we used to measure the area of the basketball courts.

We discovered that the basketball court is 15m wide and 30m long. We used our knowledge of multiplication and arrays to help us work out that the total area is 450 square metres! Amazing team work 1/2 SF!

Sustained Reading

We are really enjoying building our reading stamina while reading independently. Look how clever we are!

Healthy Eating.

Yesterday we made some yummy healthy fruit skewers and vegetarian rice paper rolls.

With all the donated fruit we were able to make and eat multiple skewers.

The rice paper rolls were a huge success.

We placed the hard rice paper sheets into a dish of water following the steps:

"Dip, flip, dip and drip, drip, drip".

We then waited for the paper to soften, added vermicelli noodles, cucumber and carrots.

We finally wrapped our parcel by following the steps:

Cover the noodles with a blanket (fold closest flap over)

Fold the two sides into middle

And finally....roll roll roll!

Leave us a message if anyone makes them at home with your family....remember you can add chicken, prawns, capsicum and many more things.

Week 2 of Term 4

In 1/2 SF we have been learning about narrative writing.

We wrote a story about "A day with our favourite celebrity".

Look at our wonderful writers.

In Inquiry we have been looking at healthy eating.

Did you know that one can of coke has 10 cubes of sugar.

We understand that this is a sometimes food.

Look at our healthy options in our lunchboxes.

1/2 SF are really healthy eaters.

Can you share with us what your dinner plate looked like tonight? What foods did you have on your plate?

Happy eating and look after your body.
